Innovation and Technology in Hong Kong: Government’s Role, Future Pathways and Opportunities

Hong Kong has established itself as a leading hub for innovation and technology (I&T) in the region, unpinned by clear government strategies, a comprehensive ecosystem, a deep talent pool, strong research capabilities, vibrant private-sector participation as well as extensive regional and international collaboration.

This session will discuss how government policies and support have fostered the I&T development in Hong Kong, and the role of science parks in this process, from incubating ideas, advancing research to translating innovation into economic outcomes, etc.  It will also highlight Hong Kong’s latest government initiatives to further drive innovation and advance “new industrialization”.

Participants will gain insights from Hong Kong’s I&T journey and how its lessons can be applied to build resilient, inclusive, and globally competitive ecosystems elsewhere.
